1. What inspired you to become a tattoo artist and when did you started it as a career?

Since childhood, drawing has always been my great passion. Art has always been a part of me, shaping my worldview. Although I followed a different professional path and graduated in Nursing, I never let go of this love for art. Despite the enriching journey in nursing, I always felt that something was missing, a deeper connection to my true passion. In 2017, I decided to become a tattoo artist.

In a way, tattoos had always been present in my life, largely because of the rock ‘n’ roll bands and idols I followed, who were often heavily tattooed. This new path allowed me to continue impacting people’s lives, but in a more positive way and one that allowed me to express myself as an artist.

The transition from nursing to tattooing wasn’t easy, but each challenge I faced only reinforced my determination. The care and precision I learned in nursing naturally transferred to my work as a tattoo artist, where technique and sensitivity are essential. The dedication to perfection in every line and shade, combined with the ability to understand and respect the client’s vision, became the foundation of my style and artistic approach.

Tattooing is more than just applying ink to skin; it’s a process of collaboration and trust between the tattoo artist and the client. It’s about transforming ideas and emotions into living art that people will carry with them forever. For me, every tattoo I create is a reflection of my journey, my passions, and my commitment to both art and my clients.

Ultimately, what inspires me to be a tattoo artist is the opportunity to leave a positive and meaningful mark on people’s lives while following the vocation I have always known was mine since I was a child. It is a privilege to live through my art and see how it becomes a part of so many people’s stories.

2. How many tattoos do you have on your body and what’s your favourite one?

I have 14 tattoos in total.  My favourite one is the one in my hand, the letter “M” which stands for Maria, my mother’s name.

3. Which is your favourite client tattoo, what was the story behind it and how much time it took?

My favorite client is always the next one on my schedule; they are the ones who allow me to do what I love every day. That’s why, to me, every client is special and is treated as such.

4. What do you do in your free time when not tattooing people?

Pretty much I have a very calm life, I love drawing, be with the people that I love, play video games, read a good book or go to the beach.

5. Why do you think people get a tattoo, even though it’s a painful process?

Because tattooing is part of a process, like a ritual of passage that has always been present in human culture. Tattoos have historically been associated with transitions into adulthood, identifying warriors, or signifying belonging to a particular social class. These rituals, with tattooing at their core, despite being painful, bring a sense of reward and accomplishment for having faced and overcome the challenge.

6. Who is your favourite tattoo artist?

I have many tattoo artists whom I greatly admire, so it would be difficult to name just one. However, for example, Oscar Akermo continues to be a significant source of inspiration for me.

7. What are different styles of tattoos do you make?

My style is a combination of things I love to do. I mix realism techniques with lines and geometric shapes, drawing inspiration from Greek art and also incorporating surrealist elements to create a unique style.

8. Where do you see the future of Tattoos?

Honestly, it’s a very big and difficult gamble to make. We are experiencing a huge revolution in the world right now, with the advancement of technology and the arrival of new resources like AI. I’ve been focusing on my work, continuously improving, providing better service to my clients, and always betting on the value of human connection.

9. Where do you see yourself in next 5 years?

As one of the leading names in my style of work.

10. If you get a choice, which celebrity would you like to Tattoo and any specific design?

I honestly am the kind of people that don’t follow any specific artist.

11. Please share your social handles and how to reach out to get a tattoo?

The best way to get in contact with me is via my Instagram @eron.freitas.
