1. What inspired you to become a tattoo artist and when did you started it as a career?
When I was a sophomore in university, I realized that the Visual Design major was not a good fit for me and I started to question what I wanted to do. At that time, I became interested in drawing on the body rather than on paper. So, the following year, I started learning tattooing from @soltattoo and @tattooist_eq at ‘Studiobysol’. I officially began my work in February 2021.
2. How many tattoos do you have on your body and what’s your favourite one?
I have 20 tattoos. My favorite one is a No-Face tattoo I got in Taiwan. It’s my favorite character, and I love it because it holds so many happy memories for me.
3. Which is your favourite client tattoo, what was the story behind it and how much time it took?
My favorite piece of work is a dolphin tattoo I did on client’s lower back. It’s the largest and most challenging project I’ve ever done, and I learned a lot from it. Although I don’t remember exactly, it took about two sessions to complete.
4. What do you do in your free time when not tattooing people?
On my days off, I usually meet up with friends. I get a lot of energy from meeting my friends.
5. Why do you think people get a tattoo, even though it’s a painful process?
Maybe it’s because people want to engrave something they want to remember forever. That’s how I feel!
6. Who is your favourite tattoo artist?
There are so many artists I like, but I really love @sinewpark_tt. I adore her storytelling and the atmosphere of her work.
7. What are different styles of tattoos do you make?
I mainly work on landscapes and anime designs. I also often create designs based on sunsets I’ve photographed.
8. Where do you see the future of Tattoos?
I believe the future of tattoos will increasingly recognize their artistic value. As social perceptions of tattoos change positively, I think more people will express their individuality and stories through tattoos.
9. Where do you see yourself in next 5 years?
In about five years, it will be around nine years since I started tattooing. By then, I might be integrating tattoos with other fields. I want to express myself more artistically, like other amazing artists, by combining my work with different areas.
10. If you get a choice, which celebrity would you like to Tattoo and any specific design?
If I ever get the chance, I would love to work with my favorite singer, IU. Of course, I’d create the design she wants, but if there’s a form of love she expresses to the world, I’d like to capture that in my work.
