MARK ‘THE SHARK’ WOSGERAU ⋆ Tattoo’d Lifestyle Magazine

Why did you decide to become a tattoo artist?
Tattooing kind of fell upon me- I started out in the worst possible way; I wasn’t blessed with the talent of drawing, or had any idea of what I was doing. Evolving my art into what it is today took alot of blood, sweat and tears, and it definitely requires true passion to do so. I would encourage everyone to go to drawing school, and get good at the basics before starting up tattooing. Then you can find the way to the best studio in town, that can’t say no because of your awesome portfolio.

Was art a love of yours before you decided to become a tattoo artist?
As mentioned above, I basically stumbled upon tattooing, but I have always appreciated art on some level, and I was drawing in my childhood. Now, art is something I really appreciate. I love the artworks of guys like Casey Baugh, Robin Eley, Richard Estes, and Joshua Carlton – I’m actually currently in the middle of buying two original paintings from the latter.

What is your favorite part about doing art for a living?
I love so many aspects of doing art, but art is a lot of things to me, and is more a symbol of creative expression. I love everything from talking to my clients, preparing my work, and executing my work. I love the freedom art gives me, and the possibilities in life. I feel very blessed that I had the chance to live my life like this.

We know every artist has a story, tell us your most horrific/funny tattoo experience you’ve had.
I think being in this industry changes your point on what is horrific/funny. I’ve seen everything from customers yelling excessively loudly, and even getting nicknamed ”The Roarer” as a ”legend status”, to customers getting almost naked for no reason. I guess all of that stuff just becomes normal, but probably the most crazy guy in the studio came in telling us he was friends with George W. Bush and Elvis Presley, while being 100% serious. He really wanted to do a scorpion on his hand, because he loved spiderman.

What makes you love black & grey over other styles?
Black and grey has a different expression for me, that color can’t achieve. Its simplicity talks to me, and I think my style wouldn’t look near as good in colors. It allows me to create beauty, and mystery, it allows me to be the artists I like to be. The fact that I can make everlasting tattoos with beautiful contrast makes me happy to do my work everyday.

What question have you been asked by a client that you wish they already knew?
There are tons of questions that clients don’t always know, but as an auto-reply on my email, I run through an FAQ, and people are asked to send a new email with all the needed information. This helps me  lot with time saving, and tells people what kind of artist I am, even before we start talking. But a frequently asked question is: ”How much is a tattoo?”

Who is your personal favorite artist (musician, tattooist, actor, etc…) and how do they inspire you?
I don’t have a personal favorite, but I have many artists that I highly respect. For music, I love Tallest Man on Earth, Ben Howard, The National, Bon Iver, and Mumford & Sons. Their music allows me to slow down, and put all focus into my work when needed.

As for tattooists, I find inspiration in a lot of other black and gray artists, but some of my personal favorite artists would be Carlos Torres, Niki Norberg, Oscar Akermo, and Sergio Sanchez.

My favorite actors would be Leonardo Di Caprio and Matthew McConaughey. Seeing the amount of passion and dedication they put into their work is definitely inspiring, as well as the mindset of constantly greater achievements.

What should we know about you that you would like us to know?
I wanna encourage everybody to find passion in their life, and do what makes them tick. don’t settle for something you don’t love every single day of your life. Take life a bit serious, and try to be your best. Why not make changes, inspire other people, and spread good vibes?

Now just a few one answer
questions to get to know you better!
Cats or dogs? Dogs
Hamburger or Veggie burger?
Hamburger
Morning or night? Night
Laid back or high strung? mix
Pants or shorts? pants
Snow or sun? both

LIFESTYLE LADY OF THE WEEK 2/14

Tell us, how would you describe yourself in a few sentences?

Do no harm, take no sh*t. Very driven, failure is never an option. Overachiever AF. Compassionate and empathetic, angered by injustice. My two kids are my world, I’ve raised them alone for the past decade and they ground me and are my driving force. Athletic and comfortable in my skin, I push hard with everything I do. Tell me I can’t do something..biggest motivation. Gratitude, fortitude, grit, and humility.

What inspired you to get into tattoo modeling?

I became a tattoo artist. I had been modeling since college, selling other people’s products with my image. Once I went out on my own working in a private tattoo studio, I realized…I am my OWN product, and I need to use the modeling to market myself. I’ve used it to sort of brand myself. It’s such a competitive industry, we all need to use the edges we have. I’m confident in the quality of my work, so my mentality about the modeling has been “…look at me…now look at the art I’m making!”

What type of photo shoots you like doing the most?

The creative ones where it feels like an artistic collaboration. I’ve done so many of the same types of things, at this point I’m really motivated by “out of the box” shoots. As an artist myself, I think I have a lot to bring to the table in terms of creative content. Everybody wants to put me on the beach with a surfboard, which makes sense because it’s my element! And I truly do love those shoots, they’re very comfortable for me. But I get excited to leave that comfort zone a bit more as I get older and work with some new and different concepts.

What is the weirdest experience you’ve had either at a photoshoot, convention etc?

Shooting in the woods with a female photographer friend of mine. I was in lingerie and we were playing around and having a good time. A super creepy man emerged out of nowhere and approached us…and just stood there watching. We stopped what we were doing, as he clearly wrecked the vibe and made us uneasy. He tried in vain to chat us up for way too long, detached to how uncomfortable he was making us. He then told us he lived down a nearby path (that he pointed out) and said that we should go to his house when we were done, saying that we’d know it was his house because he had candy waiting for us in the mailbox. So we went. Just kidding!! We left, everybody knows only psychopaths offer women and children candy. Creeped way out for a while, but we laugh about it now. And carry pepper spray!

Sex appeal is a big part of the industry, Brands look for you to attract the sexual or erotic interests of other people to help sales, build brand recognition etc.  When do you feel sexiest?

Great question, had to think about it for a minute. I feel sexiest on my surfboard, gliding down the line on a clean glassy wave. Warm sun on my skin, mind, body and ocean connected. Sexy is a feeling, not a look. Perhaps ties in to why I’m so often asked to shoot with surfboards? That feeling shines through!

What do you like to do when you’re not modeling?

Adventures with my kids. Professional Momming is my specialty. I drive a big pickup truck to prevent feeling like a soccer mom (although I did coach my son’s soccer team!)  Pretty much anything outside or at/in the ocean. I’m a crazy runner, 5 miles/day 6 days/week. I push my body hard, it keeps me feeling empowered. Surf, skate, snowboard. All the boards. Dance! Fun fact, I bellydanced for almost ten years. Tattooing, of course. I love doing my art on people’s skin, it will forever be humbling and feed my soul. Gardening and horticulture, I am the plant whisperer. I love making things beautiful and making things grow.

What’s your favorite tattoo and why?

My tiniest one! The red heart on my left pointer finger. It was the first tattoo I ever did on myself. After a long and difficult process, I became the first ever legal tattoo artist in my town. When I opened up, everybody was vying for the “first legal tattoo in town.” After much deliberation, I chose to do the tattoo on myself. A heart, pointing away from my body, because..give love, ya know? A few years later, it felt unbalanced to me, because you can’t give love if you don’t love yourself. So I had another matching red heart put on my right pointer finger, this time pointing towards me. Give love, love yourself. Complete.

If you could get tattooed by anyone, who would it be and why?

I just recently got tattooed by one of my favorites! Mark Wade. He did my mermaid thigh piece and it is amazing! Not only is he an incredible tattoo artist, but he is a super down to earth and nice guy. I have an appointment for more work with him this Spring, which I am very much looking forward to!

Finish this sentence: If I could rule the world for a day I would…

Oh man. Shuffle around all the power. Anarchy. Start from scratch. I want to save everything and everyone. TMI?

So we know models have a lot of “fans” and receive a lot of attention, both online and in-person, some wanted and some definitely not. What’s the worst pick-up line you’ve ever heard?

Geez. So hard to narrow it down, I block most of them out. Well this is more of a bad pick up story than line. I was at the beach with my kids when they were smaller and we came upon a partly built cool sand castle. I sat down and set up my stuff, and they took it over and started making it their own. Soon after, a guy came over and said it was his sand castle that he had been building…and he started building WITH THEM. The kids got weirded out and stopped. The guy stayed and just sat there with us for a while trying to flirt. We left. Similar to my above story about the guy in the woods? Recurring themes in my life, having to leave somewhere because a guy gets weird.

140+ Beautiful Gratitude Tattoos Ideas (2023)

Gratitude tattoos are a great way to express your thankfulness for life and all that it has to offer. Embrace the power of thankfulness and express it through a meaningful tattoo that will stay with you forever.

Showing your gratitude to the universe (and God) can only help you to grow in life. If you are celebrating an important event in your life, or even if you simply want to show your appreciation for the little things, a gratitude tattoo is a great idea.

Gratitude Tattoo Ideas

Here are some of the best gratitude tattoos ideas to get you inspired:

1. Why look for so many options when you can simply get the word Grateful tattooed on your wrist? This straightforward yet powerful phrase speaks volumes about what matters most in life.

2. An open hand with birds symbolizing freedom and liberation – This tattoo expresses our ability to be free and appreciate what we have been given even if it’s nothing tangible at the time.

3. How about opting for a heart tattoo with the words like “thankful” and “blessed” inked inside it? These are beautiful reminders to stay humble in all sorts of challenges.

4. Many people also like to go for a compass tattoo pointing towards an anchor. This is a symbol of strength and perseverance as we face life’s uncertainties.

5. You can also get inked with daily affirmations to boost your confidence or even to show your gratitude to the universe. There are 1000s of affirmations that you can find online for your next ink. ‘I will never be Defeated’ is one of my personal favorites.

6. A sunflower accompanied by the words “Everything will be Alright”. Sometimes all we need is just a little bit of sunshine and hope to carry on through tough times.

7. A sunset with the phrase “Be Present” – serves as a reminder to take time to appreciate each moment before it passes.

8. A tattoo of a musical note, along with the words “Serenity Now” will always look great.  Music has the power to soothe and bring us back to our center in times of distress.

9. An infinity symbol or any other meaningful shape that you can personalize. This is a great way to express your appreciation for life as it is ever-changing and developing.

10. Many ancient tribes used mandalas as their tattoo choice to show gratitude to the universe. Since it is also a symbolic form of the universe therefore it only makes sense to try this design.

11. Dandelion with a Quote – The dandelion featuring the phrase “wish for more” represents our hopeful desires for a better future. It serves as a reminder to never stop striving for improvement and to hold onto the belief that tomorrow can be brighter than today.

12. An abstract design with a positive message – This is a way to express your gratitude for life without having to use words, like a colorful vivid rainbow or a sky full of stars.

13. A bee symbolizing hard work and determination – As we continue to strive in life, we should be grateful for all of our accomplishments no matter how small they may seem.

14. The phrase “Enjoy the journey” accompanied by footprints – This reminds us to appreciate every step along the way, instead of simply zeroing in on the objective or destination.

15. Feather and arrow – The tattoo signifies gratitude for one’s life journey. The feather is a symbol of their inner spirit or soul, while the arrow represents the direction they are headed. It serves as a reminder to appreciate the present moment and trust in the path ahead.

16. Tree of Life – A tree of life tattoo can be interpreted to signify growth, strength, nourishment, and renewal – All things we can be thankful for in our lives.

17. Lotus Flower – The lotus flower grows from the mud, making it a great representation of hope and beauty even after facing difficult times. It’s a powerful reminder to stay positive and belief in yourself.

18. Hummingbird Tattoo – Hummingbirds symbolize joy and peace, so getting them as a tattoo will remind us to appreciate the simple things in life.

19. Sunflower – Sunflowers represent motivation, loyalty, and adoration, which is something we can all be thankful for.

20. Anchor – An anchor stands for stability, security, and hope – three qualities that we should strive to remember when life gets difficult.

21. Cross – A cross tattoo can represent faith and devotion to our beliefs – something that we should never forget to be thankful for.

Gratitude Tattoos Meanings and symbolisms

These tattoos are a perfect way to show appreciation for life’s blessings. Whether it is a symbol of love or an expression of thanks, these tattoos can be deeply meaningful and powerful.

They remind us that there is always something to be thankful for, even in difficult times. Common symbols used in gratitude tattoos include hearts, feathers, birds, butterflies, flowers, and the sun.

These tattoos can also serve as a reminder to practice mindfulness and appreciate the small things in life that bring joy. It may just be the boost of positive energy that you need.

A gratitude tattoo often serves as an outward sign of inner contentment and acceptance – a reminder to embrace all aspects of our lives, both the good and the bad.

These tattoos can be a source of strength and inspiration during difficult times, reminding us that there is still beauty in life even when things seem dark.

We have compiled here a photo gallery of some of the best gratitude tattoos that you can have but remember no matter what symbol or design you choose, it should always be done with an attitude of gratefulness.

Traditional tattoos and rockabilly style of the tattoo model Gabi Engel

She is a singer, influencer, and likes to do modelling and styling. She is very passionate about rockabilly and, as you can see in these photos,t 40s/50s style.

She is the Brazilian tattooed girl Gabi Engel and here she talks with us about Traditional tattoos and her love for a very special event, Viva Las Vegas tattoo Convention!

Hi Gabriela welcome to Tattoo Life. Brazilian by order and American by adoption, where exactly do you live now and since when?
Hi, thank you for having me. My name is Gabi Engel and I am Brazilian, born and raised in Sao Paulo. I moved to Las Vegas, NV, USA in 2016 and here I am ever since. My dream is to one day move to California, hopefully soon.

Where did your passion for tattoo start? Do you have a style or any characteristic you look for in the work you do?
I got my first tattoo when I was 17 years old. It was the Ramones logo on my back and right away I fell in love with it. I owned a shop for several years back in Brazil but sadly never learned how to tattoo. I never thought I had the necessary skills for it but maybe one day I’ll learn and develop my own style.

I saw that you have a tattoo on your back. What did you choose for this important part?
After the Ramones logo on my back I decided to go for a nautical theme which forced me to cover up the logo since it didn’t make sense any more. I still haven’t finish this tattoo and I’m waiting to find the right artist to get the job done.

What do you do for a living?
I’m a co-manager/visual merchandise manager for a big retail company. I’m also a singer and influencer part-time.

I like to do some modelling and styling on the side to keep myself busy.

I saw that you attended the Viva Las Vegas Show, for pleasure or for work?
Viva Las Vegas is one of the reasons I moved to Las Vegas. I’m very passionate about rockabilly and the 40s/50s style. I love vintage fashion and VLV is all of it combined.

On your IG page you have many shots with outfits very much in line with tattoo-related looks. Do you do it for work or is it really a passion of yours?
It’s both. I do it for love and do get to do modelling for amazing brands as well. It’s great when you can combine what you love with work.

I love styling pieces together using my references and my own judgement. I don’t normally follow trends, I prefer to stick with fashion values.

You are also a singer! What genre do you like?
I do sing and it’s mostly rockabilly. My songs have other influences like country, psychobilly, rock’n’roll and some modern music too. Everything that I am comes out in my songs.

How do you choose your tattoo artists? Can you name a couple and the work they have done for you?
I look for Traditional artists. Thick and precise lines and lately I’m very into Traditional tattoos only in black, no other colours. My favourite artist is Cesar Malnova from Brazil. His art is amazing and he really captures exactly what I’m looking for.

Plans for the next months in your life and work?
I’m recording a few songs over the next few weeks and I plan to make videos for every single one of them. Life will take me where I’m supposed to be, always, so I’ll just live the moment and see what happens.

Interview with Badass Realism Tattooer Marc Roy

Marc Roy is a talented realism tattooer working out of Abbotsford, British Columbia.

He specializes in large scale black and grey realism, and does an incredible job at putting his own spin on each piece (even the classic references).

I got the opportunity to do this in depth interview with him, where we talk about a range of subjects including the unorthodox mindset of an artist, the social dilemma,  the (rewarding) challenges of being an artist, and much more.

I hope you guys enjoy this article, and  thanks for looking.

One thing I’ve been thinking of a lot lately is how talented artists minds work.  When you are just going about your daily life with your loved ones or whoever, do you ever try to turn that art switch off at all?  Or is that just inevitably permanently turned on and you’re still living in the present with the people you’re around even though your mind is still fixated on art?  Can you touch on this a bit?

Hit the nail on the head man!  That mental engine is always either at least idling or its wide open; it’s also compounded by the fact that I just don’t tend to relax mentally and physically.  I live either in the past or in the future so it can be difficult for me to live in the present at the best of times.  I have to admit that the pandemic has definitely gotten me to reevaluate that side of me.  I’ve learned to slow down and to not feel guilt if I shut things off from time to time.  It’s a work life, therefore I’m always thinking about art, thinking about tattoos, thinking about upcoming projects or I see references everywhere.  Snapping weird pictures of certain textures, the odd flower here and there.  Sometimes architectural elements, or filming a campfire for flame references etc.  It can border fixation on obsession.   However I’ve learned to live with it and I have found peace and harmony as I’ve worked my way into the industry.  I’ll try to chase one or two big milestones a year and have little wins or achievements as the months tick by; that’s what seems to suppress the obsession.  But despite all that, I spend quite a bit of time with the family.  I always make time for that part of my life.  And as much as it’s hard to turn off, I couldn’t imagine having a job that you hate and that creates that feeling within you.  So I try to never complain about it because I truly feel that this is a unique situation.

collaboration with Luka Lajoie

We seem to be living in an altered reality, or a false reality (at times), whatever you want to call it. In an often like/click obsessed world, how do you stay organic through it all and how would you describe your approach to social media?

I know there have been countless university dissertations and thesis’s about the negative aspects of social media and largely I feel a lot of those are warranted.  However it’s a powerful tool that has forever changed tattooing in terms of our reach, accessibility, ability to connect and to gain customers.  I try to have somewhat of a focussed approach. I try to have good curated content and post regularly across the different features a social media platform offers. That being said as long as I see some growth and things are not regressing I don’t really care how fast and how big it truly gets in terms of likes/followers etc.  I’m a relatively young tattooer (I’ve been tattooing full-time since mid 2015) and I did a few years prior to that very much on a part-time basis (one day a week).  I got into Instagram late and I also was not using it properly in the beginning to maximize exposure.  By the time I had figured it out, the large follower swells and the chronological posting order had already passed. So growth nowadays is very slow and organic.  Here is the rule that I use: if your books are full, people reach out and social media translates into customers, cool projects and people are engaged I think that’s all that really matters in the end.

I feel as if many have found out how potentially lucrative tattooing can be, so things are just getting more and more competitive. In what ways do you feel you’re able to set yourself apart from the crowd and how do you approach the design aspect of tattooing?

Definitely it can be quite lucrative especially for a career that doesn’t feel like work.  But truly it only is if you manage to break away and do something different or in a geographic area that your tattooing style/skills are rare. Up here in British Columbia Canada there aren’t too many realism artists available.  That has made me extremely busy which I’m grateful for.  I try to design things that I feel might have a signature that is unique, or try to approach some of the classics with a fresh twist.  That way people will seek you out for the way YOU tattoo.  We are living in a sea of talent.   I’m blown away by my Instagram feed day in day out with all the pieces being created at any moment.  But what we perceive as skill is one thing. People may seek you out for something less tangible or something less quantifiable.  So a certain aspect of your tattooing they feel is unique to you is what needs to be developed in my opinion.

I know you work in a private studio…I can relate a bit, as I work alone as well. What helps keep you hungry and motivated when at the end of the day it’s entirely how hard you want to work (or not work) on each particular day?

Working alone has its perks, but stagnation can easily settle in.  Obviously conventions and guest spots keeps the perspective fresh and the competitiveness (albeit friendly) alive.  Obviously those are off the table currently with the world’s events.  I try to accept the fact that not all days are created equal.  Some weeks can be more exciting than others and sometimes you may feel like your work plateaus.  To me working alone is about mental resilience. You’re the only one who can pick yourself up if you need to.  I try to be critical of my own work and sometimes I can be quite hard on myself but never to the point where it becomes detrimental.  That keeps me motivated to move forward.  My wife and child help, as it all rests on my shoulders and it’s up to me to step up to the plate and carve our path to the future. I also would hate to fall out of relevance; I want to make sure my work stays relevant in the Tattoo community and I am in no way shape or form implying that I have achieved relevance at all… who knows really…but the fear of not having some recognition for your art can be quite the motivator.

Most memorable experience with a client? (Could be funny, bizarre, sentimental…)

One of my best friends James.  I’ve tattooed him at many shows and he’s a great guy, we’ve had so many laughs and tattooed some serious pieces on him, most of which have been career defining.  I owe him a lot as it propelled things forward for me.  He’s the guy that has the Collab me and luka did, the face with the yellow amber liquid running down. It’s been seen quite extensively.  The whole thing has been memorable with him. I’ve had all positive experiences throughout my career; the wild street shop stories that I hear from other guys I skipped all that. So whenever this question arises I never have anything wild to share.

What’s been the most valuable challenge you’ve faced as a tattoo artist, a challenge that you conquered and came out stronger because of?

I would say the medium itself.  So many variables will affect the outcome of a tattoo so when you’re first starting you don’t realize that it isn’t linear.  It’s an ever-changing bull’s-eye and every day is different.  Having to adapt constantly with little to no answers of why certain things are happening and certain things are not happening was grueling mentally. My first years into tattooing were largely a hobby that I wanted to turn into my career, but I was already adulting quite hard (mortgage, family, life etc).  I wanted to transition into full-time tattooing but I had to play my cards right so the little time that I had to devote to it in the beginning was limited and frustrating.

What’s one thing you wish you could tell yourself at the very beginning of your tattooing journey, something you know now but didn’t know then?

What worked yesterday may not necessarily work today.   In other words every customer is different.  There are genetically determined factors that affect how the skin reacts, the outcome of the tattoo etc.  How fast you run your machines, how to approach a tattoo…I thought it was a formula; when you nail the formula everything should go smoothly and the results should be the same.  Which I now realize is never the case so be prepared to adapt every day and realize that it is an ever changing approach.  Once you let go and just accept that fact thats when the growth really starts.  Be disciplined in your setup but fluid in your execution.

What three things do you wish all your clients knew without you having to explain to them?

The importance of black, dark backgrounds when it’s needed and the “less is more” approach to designing.  Larger images with some simpler backgrounds/large open fields and negative space have the most impact in my opinion, and sometimes people have a hard time understanding that.  Much like painting, large compositions make more sense to me. That being said I’m in the position that I really often do not need to explain anything.   I have a great clientele that trust my direction.  I enjoy a lot of freedom so I really can’t complain.

What are three major shifts you HOPE to see in the industry over the next couple of years?

It would be nice to see some of this pigment legislation dropped…mainly what’s happening in Europe with certain colours possibly being banned and so forth.  Let the experts that have years and decades of pigment development experience lead the way; not outside influence that have little to no understanding of how this truly works.

I would love to see tattooing recognized even more as a form of fine art, much like other classic mediums in art galleries etc.  This has drastically changed but we definitely have a ways to go

Finally the industry is feeling more and more connected and collaborative, and we can always use more of that in this world.  Here’s to hoping we double down on that post pandemic!

Huge thank you to Marc for taking his valuable time to do this interview, and thank you to anyone who took the time to read it.

Se*xy and B*old Tattoos for Women You’ll Want to Copy

A tattoo is se*xy. No matter what kind of woman you are, whether you’re the girly, girly-on-trend kind of woman, or the boss who takes no prisoners (or whatever), there’s a tattoo ready to match. Celebrating and honoring your body with se*xy tattoos is a brilliant idea.

In this guide, we have found 100 of our favorite tattoo ideas for women. Scroll through the full list or scroll down the table of contents!

Have you been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while but still haven’t found the perfect design? If this sounds like you, then you are in the right place. Today we have sexy tattoos for women and placement ideas. There’s a tattoo for everyone here, including gorgeous thigh tattoos, edgy body art, girly floral designs, and much more. The only problem you’ll have after seeing these sexy tattoos is deciding which one you want to try! So take a look and get inspired.

1. LARGE AND SEXY DRAGON TATTOO

The first tattoo idea we have to show you is sexy and fierce! This piece of body art features a dragon tattooed on the ribs and hip. It is a stunning design and is perfect for anyone who wants a large tattoo that will stand out. Recreate this or you can add color for an even bol*der look.

SINGLE ROSE TATTOO IDEA

Next, we have a smaller, more subtle idea. Here we have a single rose that is on the upper part of the thigh. As you can see, it’s a cute little design. A tattoo like this will suit everyone and you can recreate the design in black ink or try adding color to the rose. Either way, it will look beautiful. You can also tattoo a rose on any part of the body.

STUNNING ORNAMENTAL STERNUM TATTOO

Sternum tattoos have become one of the most popular pieces of body art for women and with designs like this we can see why. This tattoo features an ornamental design with beautiful patterns, graceful charms, and also a dazzling lotus. It is a beautiful tattoo and it really makes a statement. You can recreate this or you can try your own version of the design.

FLORAL SLEEVE

This next tattoo is one of our favorites. Here’s a floral sleeve. Many beautiful flowers have been tattooed on the skin from the shoulder to the wrist. These flowers are just black ink and look like peonies. It is a very avant-garde and modern design. A tattoo like this is perfect for someone who wants to be bo*ld. Have a design similar to this or you can try using a different type of flower.

SEXY MANDALA TATTOO ON THE THIGH

Next, we have a sexy and beautiful thigh tattoo to show you. The design features a stunning floral mandala. We love this because the patterns used are just beautiful. There are so many different mandala patterns available that you can recreate this or try something completely different. Either way, a mandala looks amazing when tattooed on the thigh.

TATTOO ON THE COLUMN WITH A QUOTE

Looking for a unique and impressive tattoo? If so, this next design might be for you. Here we have a tattoo on the spine with the quote “She believed she could, so she did it”. The quote has been tattooed in a fancy font and the overall design is just beautiful. You can put any quote on the spine, you can choose any font.

ROSE BACK TATTOO IDEA

The next tattoo idea is pretty and stylish. This shoulder tattoo features a black ink rose with a geometric pattern in the background. The rose looks so beautiful and the shoulder tattoos are sexy and can be displayed or covered whenever you want. Recreate this tattoo or you can add some color. You can recreate the rose with or without the background pattern.

FLORAL NECK BONE TATTOO

We love this next tattoo! Here we have a clavicle tattoo that features beautiful blue flowers. The flowers are elegant and delicate, but they are given an edgy touch due to where they are placed. Clavicle tattoos look amazing and unique. Try a tattoo similar to this one or place any design on your clavicle.

TYLISH SNAKE DESIGN

Next, we have an awesome chest tattoo to show you. This tattoo features a snake, flowers, and a moon. Everything about this tattoo is sexy and elegant, from where the body art is placed to the snake design. Something like this is perfect for anyone who wants a bol*d and unique tattoo. You can recreate this or try a different snake or flowers. Maybe add some subtle color too.

MANDALA AND ROSES TATTOO ON THE THIGH

Did you love the mandala thigh tattoo that we showed you earlier? If so, you should check out the following idea. Here we have another mandala that has been tattooed on the thigh. This one features a different pattern and three roses have also been added to the design.

As you can see, the flowers and patterns look amazing. It is an awesome idea and a tattoo like this can be placed anywhere on the body such as the back or ribs.

The plants, tattoos and illustrations of the beautiful Angel

Angel grows plants and sells art. She’s an illustrator and has been getting tattoos since she was 15. And now she is a beautiful tattoo collector who loves to immerse herself in what she does.

Hello Angel would you like to introduce yourself to our readers? What do you do for a living?
I grow plants, I make and sell art and I’ve been a professional colorist for 11 years, but I never felt like I fit into a typical salon environment- so I’m in the process of opening my creative space: Understory, in Oakland Park, Florida. Where I can merge my passions for art, plants, color and community.

Angel
Angel

On your Instagram page I saw that there are many photos of you with various types of plants. How come?
I’m Autistic, ADHD and OCD. I collect a lot of things and I have a lot of special interests. I collect Foliage Anthurium because I like the process of growing them from seed to adulthood and it’s extremely therapeutic for me. These types of plants are usually cultivated for their unique characteristics, like massive leaf size, irregular shapes, beautiful coloration, and my favorite; the glittery and velvety varieties.

Angel
Angel

Most of these plants are endemic to cloud forests-high elevation rain forests, I source seeds and plants from local south Florida growers because unfortunately, a lot of the anthurium sold online are poached from the wild. I completely immersed myself in the plant hobby 3 years ago and there’s no turning back!

Angel

Let’s talk about your passion for tattoos: you have a big one covering your chest and belly. When did you choose it and what does it represent for you?
My torso tattoo is symbolic to me in a lot of ways. My mom has a dragon tattoo on her back that crawls onto her shoulder, I always knew I wanted to honor her by having my own dragon. The custom design was made for me by Javier Betancourt, Owner of Ocho Placas Tattoo Company in Miami, FL. We spent hours working through different ideas, styles, researching mythology and we landed on this winged serpent design loosely based on Kulkukan. My favorite part about this tattoo is that it is both so masculine and feminine. Soft and strong, it just feels like me.

Angel
Angel

And what about the arms?
I’ve been getting tattooed since I was 15. My son’s father was a tattoo artist so a lot of my early tattoos were done by him before he passed away in 2010, including my son Maxamillion’s name. I’m lucky to have beautiful work by some of my favorite local artists. Most of my earlier tattoos are American traditional. I took a break from getting tattooed in 2014 and recently started again last year with Hell’s Bells on my neck.

Angel
Angel

I saw the drawing of the big black leaf, did you do it by any chance? Are you an illustrator?
I am an illustrator but I work with all art forms. A little over a year ago I started making hand stippled designs that are based off of my plants, as a healthy way to cope with depression and express myself. Each piece takes roughly 60 to 300 hours to create. I offer fine art prints of my work on my website Anthuriumangel.com I’m in the process of having 3 more of my recent designs printed and I occasionally take commissions for original work.

Angel
Angel

Are you a spiritual person? What do you like to do in your free time?
I don’t have spare time. Haha I fill all my time with things that interest me because if I’m not interested in what I’m doing then I get depressed. I don’t like crowded places or being around a lot of people so you’ll find me alone in nature or with the other eclectic people like myself.

I am an extreme hobbyist and I’ve never relaxed a day in my life! I like learning how to do things and being good at them.

I cycle, I rock climb, I grow a native biodiverse pollinator meadow in my front yard, I study herbalism and horticulture. I collect and grow anthurium, I make art, I prepare ridiculous meals because I love to cook and make things pretty.

Angel
Angel

I don’t consider these to be things that I do in my spare time because these are things that I completely immerse myself in. Special interests are everything to me. I am spiritual but I’m not religious, if you want to meet god, take some mushrooms and walk barefoot into a forest.

Angel
Angel

Anything about your character to reveal in closing this short interview, or any hidden passion of yours?
I think my passion is being passionate about what I’m doing. Following the dopamine. Learning by experience, sharing my experience with others. Raising my kid to be the best human he can be. Building up my community and inspiring folx to care about the planet, mental health, authentic connection with others, working hard to be the person they want to be and for the world they want to live in. Feel free to feel free, you know?

Microblading Procedure

What is Semi Permanent Makeup?

Semi permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattoos; it uses sterile needle cartridges to implant color pigments into the skin. So that it will produce makeup that will last for several years, damage and fade depending on the age and skin type of the client.

How long will it take?

You need to allow 1 to 1 ½ hours for your first appointment; the second visit takes around 6 weeks. Then, after the initial visit you must improve your makeup and increase the color. PMC treatment is not complete until your second treatment is done.

How long semi permanent makeup last?

PMC will last a number of years; however, some people will experience gradual fading over time. I suggest, that you return for a color boost every twelve to eighteen months. This is to refresh and keep the look your semi permanent makeup.

How many appointments will be necessary?

After the initial visit, only one more visit is usually necessary. This visit does not require as much time as the initial visit and there is no additional charge.

Does semi permanent makeup hurt?

Although sensation will vary, we apply anesthetic and freeze the area prior to treatment.

Do I need an Allergy Test?

A test patch will be carried out at least 24 hrs prior to any treatment. 99.9% of people do not have any allergic reaction at all.

Who is it suitable for?

Busy people who have little time to apply makeup, many women find it saves time every morning. Very active people, it’s always there after swimming, sauna, and exercise. It’s also ideal for partially sighted or blind people. Or people who have lost eyebrows and eyelashes from alopecia and chemotherapy. Semi permanent makeup is the answer for today’s busy lifestyle. (Doctors letter may apply)

Will I be able to go out without anyone noticing?

After the procedure, the treated area will be darker, and the color more intense. Some swelling and redness may occur but will disappear within a few hours. You will be given aftercare instructions to follow on how to care for your treatment.

Can I have injectables?

You can have injectables, eg Botox, Restylane etc, but must be 6 weeks prior or 6 weeks after treatment.

Can I go in the sun or use a sunbed?

Yes, but you must protect your semi permanent makeup with products that contain an ultraviolet filter.

Can you use regular tattoo ink for permanent makeup?

So far we don’t recommend that, why? Do you want to make semi permanent eyebrows at home?

Can I wear conventional makeup over my permanent makeup?

Medusa Tattoos Bangkok – All Day Tattoo

Medusa is a fascinating and powerful monster that first appeared in Greek mythology

A woman that has snakes in place of her hair, it has been interpreted in many different ways throughout history

She is known to turn people to stone just by gazing upon them with her eyes

Medusa has become a popular subject for tattoos, with many different styles and interpretations reflecting the unique qualities of this mythological creature

In Greek mythology, Medusa was one of the three Gorgons, who were sisters who had snakes for hair and the power to turn people into stone

She was the only mortal one of the three, which was a punishment given to her for her involvement with Poseidon

According to the story, she was once a beautiful woman who was raped by Poisedon in the temple of Athena

In a fit of jealousy, Athena turned her into a monster with snakes for hair and a gaze that turned people into stone so that she wouldn’t be a source of attraction again

Despite being depicted as a monster, Medusa is not always portrayed as evil

In some interpretations she is a powerful and independent woman, a symbol of defiance and female strength

In others she is portrayed as a victim who was punished for a crime she didn’t commit and a symbol of abuse by a powerful male figure

Because of this Medusa can represent a wide range of different meanings, from fear and danger to transformation and power

Medusa tattoos can be done in many different styles, each of which can reflect a different aspect of the symbolism her story contains

Realistic Medusa Tattoos

A realistic Medusa tattoo aims to capture the details and textures of this mythical creature

These can be done in black and gray or even full color, depending on the preference of the person getting it

This can be a powerful representation that shows her in all her complexity and beauty

Neo-Traditional Medusa Tattoos

Neo-Traditional tattoos take a more stylized approach to their subjects, often featuring bold lines and vibrant colors

These tattoos can include other subjects of Greek Mythology, such as the gods themselves to create a larger narrative

Minimal Medusa Tattoos

A minimal tattoo uses a simplistic approach to the subject at hand

Often just simple lines, or an outline, they are often suited for smaller tattoos or one where the wearer wants to find a way to express their love of the subject without having a very dense or detailed tattoo

Emily Sullivan, the tattooed story of a future business woman

Short but effective talk with this Montana influencer/content creator who loves the patchwork style and dedicated one of her most visible tattoos to her dad.

Hello Emily! Before talking about tattoos tell me a little bit about yourself.
Yeah, I am a content creator based out of Bozeman, Montana. For me, creating content and being an “influencer” started out as a hobby, and now I’ve realized I can monetize that content and create a career out of it.

Did you wait a long time before getting your first tattoo?
I got my first tattoo when I was 17, it’s the floral wrap around my right arm. I went with my mom and we got similar tattoos dedicated to my grandma. After that I got a couple of tattoos here and there, but after I ended a long term relationship I was getting a new tattoo or even 2 at least once a week.

Did you think about it, or was it a whirlwind?
I’ve never really put much thought into the tattoos that I have! (smiles)

You have many little Black ‘n’ Grey pieces on you. Some girls opt for sleeves or big pieces, but you seem to have gone very detailed by choosing many different small subjects. Why is that?
Yes! The style is called patchwork. I chose to get a bunch of smaller tattoos because I honestly didn’t want to have to stick to a certain theme. This way I can really get whatever I want tattooed. I also feel like it makes it so I don’t run out of space as quickly.

Why is 1969 (the tattoo you sport on your belly) such an important year for you?
Everyone asks this question, “Were you born in 1969?” or says to me “You must look really good for your age”! (laughs) It’s all good, I got 1969 tattooed because that is the year my dad was born. My dad is a really important person in my life and I wanted to show my appreciation.

Will you reveal the name(s) of your favorite tattoo artists?
Funny enough I have only gotten tattooed by a handful of people. My main tattoo artist is Baker (IG: @bakerbakerbakerr) at ‘East Main Ink’ in Bozeman, Montana. He’s done an amazing job and I don’t think I’ll ever stop going to him.

On your right thigh you have ‘Business Woman’ lettering that leaves no room for imagination. Do you think that’s the best way to describe yourself to the world?
I’m not sure if I would classify myself as a ‘Business Woman’ yet but I got the tattoo as a manifestation of what I would like to become.
