Carrie Underwood Got Matching Tattoos In Vegas with Mom and Sisters

How mad can a mom get at her daughter for getting tattooed when it’s a matching one for the whole family? Not mad at all, Carrie Underwood proves, upon revealing the matching heart tattoos she got with her two sisters and 74-year-old mother in Las Vegas this past weekend. The artist just wrapped up the most recent leg of her Vegas residency and is currently on break until September, so it makes sense she would commemorate a successful run with some sentimental ink.

“When your 74-year-old mother asks you and your sisters to get matching tattoos with her in Vegas, the only questions are, ‘what?’ and ‘where?’” Underwood writes in an Instagram post. “I never would’ve thought I’d see the day that Mama Carole would be gettin’ some ink!”

The tattoos were done by Vegas-based Darek Riley, an artist notable for his sleek works of realism and elegant, feminine designs. Underwood’s mom and sisters placed their tattoos on the side of their wrists, while the multi-platinum singer went a different direction by placing hers on her right foot.

Don’t be fooled—the discrete placement of Underwood’s newest ink is not indicative of her being tattoo shy. She actually has a few tattoos, including a realistic daisy on the inside of her forearm. This piece is also an homage to her sisters, which she acquired only a couple of months ago on a recent Florida trip. “Sisters…not by blood…but sisters nonetheless,” she writes in the caption of the post. “God truly showed us great favor by putting us all together. These ladies are strong, kind and faithful and I’m so happy I get to do life with them!!!”

Underwood also has a four-leaf clover on her hip and a black cat tattoo on her lower back, both of which she has admitted hold a little less significance. “I was in college and got them done,” she told Redbook in 2013. “They don’t mean anything.” It’s clear that in this era of her tattoo journey, Underwood is looking to preserve moments and bonds that are much more reflective of her soul.

Until Underwood returns to Vegas, the beloved songstress will be joining legendary rockers Guns N’ Roses on a few stadium dates as part of their world tour this summer. Ever since Underwood took the cake on “American Idol” nearly two decades ago, she has continued to win over hearts across the globe with her grace and talent. Her future is ripe with moments that warrant meaningful tattoos, and it’s safe to say she won’t be holding back.
