Tyga Undergoes Anesthesia for 8-Hour Tattoo Session

In the ongoing debate of whether or not it’s cool to get tattooed under anesthesia, Tyga seems to be in the camp of the former. This past week, the renowned rapper underwent an 8-hour tattoo session for his latest back piece and front touch-up, all while fast asleep. On his chest and abdomen, his tattoos appear to be of Jesus on a cross, a pair of wings and two Sphinxes. On his back, one giant Sphinx takes center stage.

Done at Ganga Tattoo in LA, the piece was completed by the owner of the shop himself along with at least five other tattoo artists. In a video posted by Ganga, the rapper can be seen laying face-down on a hospital bed while the surrounding artists go to town. Both sets of new ink are generously layered over existing pieces. “Full project cover up full back and front touch up,” Ganga captions the clip. A quick glance at the rest of the rapper’s tattoos reveal that he’s no stranger to blast overs.

At Ganga, clients are able to receive large scale tattoos that can be completed in just one day as opposed to needing multiple sessions. In this one-of-a-kind service, Ganga has so far been cemented as one of the biggest players in the game. They’re currently famous for tattooing a myriad of celebrities using general anesthesia—Lil Uzi Vert, Offset, Lil Durk and Post Malone being just a handful of names. In recent months, some of Ganga’s happy clients include Jake Paul, Arcangel and Odell Beckham Jr.

Tyga’s brave new ink comes not long after the rapper ended a brief relationship with pop punk icon Avril Lavigne. The two were reportedly dating for several months, having been seen together at a handful of events such as the Mugler x Hunter Schafer party in Paris, as well as a party hosted by Leonardo DiCaprio. Things were confirmed when Tyga posted the two of them in an Instagram carousel back in March, on which Lavigne commented multiple hearts.

Earlier this year, the couple amicably parted ways. There’s no telling what the “Rack City” rapper has in mind for this next chapter of his life, but it only feels right to mark it with some monumental new ink. And if that’s the case, why not go at it pain-free? Tyga’s the latest person to show up to the getting-knocked-out-to-get-tattooed party, and we’re itching to see who else is going to hop on the trend next.
